Manufacturer moves losing skilled workers
In 2003 a major manufacturer of retail home furnishing products moved most of their production out of the country. With this move came the loss of many of their skilled workers. With numerous Shanklin side seal lines, maintenance and operation of the side seal units became a major production bottleneck. Efforts were made to train the new operators, but the high turnover rate thwarted the training efforts. While Shrink Packaging Systems Corporation was still in the development phase of the Green Machine®, we agreed to provide five side seal units to the location in January of 2005. The ease of set-up and lack of maintenance resulted in an immediate and significant productivity improvement. Those units have operated continuously for over a year with no significant down-time or maintenance. The customer's comment "We never touch the Green Machine®."
Weldroton Retrofit Improves Line Productivity
In early 2005 a major manufacturer of retail goods was running an automated packaging line with a Weldotron side-seal wrapper and thin gauge film at a productivity rate in the mid to upper 80% range. The large packages they ran resulted in significant drag throughout the seal area. A Green Machine® side sealer was installed and the line productivity jumped to over 95%. The combination of the positive gripping of the film and the reduced need for adjustment and maintenance combined to dramatically improve line efficiency. In addition, the Green Machine® allowed the customer to convert their line from PVC to polyolefin film with only a temperature change. This line has run over 750,000 feet of film with no down-time or maintenance for the Green Machine®.
Manufacturer Finally Reaches Productivity Target
In 1999 a consumer products manufacturer purchased a Shanklin F-5 line with a productivity goal of 98%. Despite the effort of all involved, the best productivity that the customer was able to achieve was 95%. In 2005 Shrink Packaging Systems Corporation installed a Green Machine®. This one change allowed the customer to finally achieve their goal of 98% efficiency with a difficult package and they have maintained that level ever since.
Packager Gains Film Flexibility
In 2005 a customer wanted to test market a new package which would replace corrugated with film on a Shanklin F-5A equipped with a Green Machine®. The project began using a tinted 4 mil polyethylene film. After a few trial runs the customer requested a trial with Bemis Clysar® Shrink Box polyolefin film. With the Green Machine® side sealer they were able to change films with only a temperature change and begin the second test market immediately.
Texwrap Application Runs Polyethylene and Polyolefin
In 2005 a food manufacturer was working on a new package for club stores that best fit a Texwrap horizontal form/fill/seal line. The only problem was that they wanted to run both printed polyethylene and polyolefin films which would require two different side sealers. The Green Machine® was installed and now allows the customer to change films with only a temperature change on the side-sealer.
